Join us Thursday, January 29 from 5:00–7:30 p.m. as we examine transportation and mobility in our rapidly growing region. From increasing traffic on our local roads to the arrival of high-speed rail and the expanding role of autonomous vehicles, Southern Nevada’s transportation network is at a pivotal moment. We’ll explore the transportation infrastructure we have, the mobility options on the horizon, and the infrastructure we need to support long-term economic growth. We’re excited to announce the first three panelists for this event:

Professor Shashi Nambisan, Ph.D., P.E.Director, Transportation Research Center & Professor of Civil EngineeringUniversity of Nevada, Las Vegas Professor Nambisan has more than 36 years of experience in transportation research and leadership, including nearly three decades leading research centers and institutes across the U.S. He has directed more than 185 projects spanning safety, data analytics, policy support, and transportation systems management, and has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications. His contributions to transportation in Nevada were recognized by a gubernatorial proclamation designating January 31, 2007 as “Professor Shashi Nambisan Day.” He is also a frequent research colleague with the Center for Business and Economic Research.

Andrew KjellmanSenior Director, Metropolitan Planning OrganizationRegional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTCSNV) Andrew Kjellman oversees federal transportation funding and leads regional planning initiatives for the RTC, guiding the agency’s response to Southern Nevada’s population and visitor growth. His work focuses on improving roads and expanding transportation options to support the region’s continued development. Kjellman began his career in Washington state and joined the RTC in 2011, rising through the organization to his current role as Senior Director.

Antonio CastelanDirector of Public Affairs, Brightline West Antonio Castelan leads public relations and community engagement for Brightline West, the high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas to Southern California. An accomplished communications professional, he brings a distinguished background in public affairs, media relations, and strategic communications to one of the region’s most transformative infrastructure projects.
