It’s less complicated than it seems. In this session, you will build your first data contract. We will first set the decorum:

* What is a data contract?

* What’s its purpose?

* Why it simplifies data engineers’ lives?

Then we will jump into the hands-on part, using some (as of now, experimental) open-source tools to generate a skeleton of a data contract, and we will add information to it.

Jean-Georges “jgp” Perrin is a technology leader focusing on building innovative and modern data platforms, president of [AIDA User Group](https://aidausergroup.org/), and author of multiple books, including *Implementing Data Mesh* (O’Reilly) and *Spark in Action, 2nd edition* (Manning). He is passionate about software engineering and all things data.
